Where's your money going? This summer, Principal Maguire is planning to have every OGA department head attend the 2025 PLC At Work Institute's Event, "Build school culture where learning thrives." The cost for this training, even with a negotiated discount, is around $700 per attendee, not including parking or incidentals. Your donations to our Fund, including attendance at the OwlZ Gala, will help cover the costs of this teacher training.
What is the Fund?
The Orlando Gifted Academy Advancement Fund is an account under the Foundation for OCPS, which means we are part of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports our school’s mission, programs, and facilities through collaboration between parents, students, teachers, staff, and the community. Contributions are tax-deductible, and because the Fund is managed by a volunteer board and maintained within the Foundation for OCPS, it incurs only minimal administrative fees. As a result, donations to the Fund go almost entirely to improving our school.
Why contribute to the Fund?
Your gift to the Fund, combined with the gifts of other members of our school community, has the cumulative power to truly help our school level up! Together we make Orlando Gifted Academy a place where our students can thrive and feel at home while also becoming confident and resourceful life-long learners; the Fund enables us build on that solid foundation to offer the best possible opportunities for all of our students.
What are the Fund’s current priorities?
Throughout the 2024-25 school year, the Fund will continue to empower our school to afford exceptional professional development tailored to gifted teachers and will work to collect funds for capital improvements for our new campus. Maintaining a strong Fund will allow us to optimize our students’ learning experiences through projects that will benefit our school presently and for years to come.
Why give to the Fund if I already donated to the fall fundraiser?
This year’s fall fundraiser benefited our incomparable PTSA, whose dedicated members contribute to all manner of projects during each school year. Generally, the PTSA assists with classroom learning projects, teacher support, and other vital tasks that are completed within a single school year. By contrast, the Fund supports longer-term, larger-ticket improvements that strengthen and elevate the institution as a whole.

In the 2023-24 school year, OGA teachers and administrators traveled to Sarasota to visit Pine View School and Mote Marine Research Laboratory and Aquarium. The team brought back a wealth of knowledge and experiences to help our instructional team continue to Level Up. At Pine View, they had the opportunity to collaborate with administrators and staff of Florida's only other public magnet school solely for gifted students.
At Mote, the team learned about careers and current research from engineers and scientists in their Ocean Technologies and Coral Reef Rescue and Recovery divisions.
From November 9-12, additional OGA staff members attended the National Association for Gifted Children annual conference to continue energizing their passion for teaching and to explore recent research and trends in gifted education. The OGA Fund provided the $4000+ registration costs for this conference.
